About Us

Mount St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth, doing business as Epiphany Center, is a nonprofit organization that serves women, children, and families. It is operated by the Daughters of Charity, a Catholic women’s community. Mount St. Joseph was founded in 1852 to care for San Francisco’s orphans in a home and school. St. Elizabeth’s was founded in 1921 as a maternity home for unwed mothers. The two agencies merged in 1976 with programs that evolved to meet the challenges and changing needs of San Francisco.

We provide the most marginalized children and families in San Francisco with holistic care.

Our purpose is to strengthen family life and to enhance the physical, social-emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth of each person in our care.
