Ladies of Charity
The Ladies of Charity is a worldwide association of Catholic women drawn together by their love for Christ and for those who live in poverty.
“THE WORK OF OUR LORD IS DEPENDENT LESS UPON MANY WORKERS, THAN UPON THE FIDELITY OF THE FEW HE CALLS.”
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
Founded by Vincent de Paul, the Ladies responded to the needs of the destitute and needy in seventeenth century France. Under the inspiration of Louise de Marillac they were organized in cities and villages to bring God’s love to the suffering, the sick and the marginalized of their time.
Since that time, the charism of the founders has been alive in many generations of Ladies of Charity. They strive through daily prayer and personal service to the poor to draw closer to God. They bring God’s joy, compassion and mercy to those who are suffering.
In their endeavors to bring compassionate care to the most vulnerable in our society, they join with other members of the Vincentian family:
- Daughters of Charity
- Vincentian Priests and Brothers
- Society of St. Vincent de Paul
- Vincentian Service Corps Volunteers

There is great joy that comes with association with other women dedicated to the mission of Christ. Your personal efforts and prayer are joined to members of the Vincentian family all over the world.
